Happy to be here

When Jackie McAndrew first arrived at work as a school leaver, she never thought she’d be in the same place nearly four decades later.  The end of last month saw the Clearing Ops Expert chalk up her 37th year and she’s still very happy where she is, thank you very much. But that’s not because she’s wary of change.  Far from it – she can take anything new in her stride.

“When I first joined it was very manual, but it’s not now, although we could probably have a bit more technology here,” she says.

“Because we were originally Bank of Scotland we’ve still got a manual recording system, but I think more automation will come.”

Originally on Processing and now on Research and Adjustment, the job is a rich source of satisfaction to Jackie.

“It’s because I know what I’m doing,” she says. “So even though you’re taking on and learning new things all the time, you’ve still got that background knowledge and it’s not so daunting.

“When we were taken over by iPSL I could have got out, but I didn’t want to. I can see myself here for quite a while yet.”

Out of work, Jackie enjoys her annual holiday abroad but otherwise is content to be a home bird and spend her time with her grandsons.
