Wendy 2WendyBRAVE Wendy Hennessey knows what it feels like to lose her hair having had treatment for cancer five years ago. But that didn’t stop her volunteering to sacrifice her locks all over again to raise money for a cause close to her heart. Wendy didn’t hesitate to take on Macmillan Cancer Support’s Brave The Shave challenge and the result was a cool new look for her and a massive fund-raising total of £1,326 for the charity. “My target was to raise £300. I was thrilled to make so much money,” says BPH Processor Wendy, who avoids hairdressers and has been growing her hair for four years. “I had it done by my brother Brian with my family all around me and, although they took the mickey, I know they were proud of me. I did have a moment when he held up a long bunch of my hair and I thought, what have I done? “I had some lovely comments from my workmates, who think it really suits me. I’m planning to grow it for another four years and do the same again.” Adds Wendy, who also makes jewellery to sell for cancer charities. Team Manager Phil Smith says: “I’ve known Wendy for 36 of her 38 years with the Company and there’s no doubt she has the wow factor. It was a fantastic thing to do and we are all very proud of her.”
