Affectionately known as the Ant and Dec of iPSL, Northfield’s Duncan Blackwell and Dave McSeveney are bracing themselves for a parting of the professional ways when the site closes. But only on the work front. Site Manager, Duncan, and Senior Operations Manager, Dave, are also best friends who regularly hang out together.

They joined the industry within a month each other 28 years ago and met in 2003 when Dave, who was at a HSBC cash centre in London before moving to cheque clearing in Romford, was migrated to Northampton where Duncan was already based, with Barclays.

As Service Delivery Managers they hit it off straight away. Duncan was soon teaching Dave how to play golf (“badly”) and there were annual trips to Cardiff for the British Speedway Grand Prix.

“Then Duncan came to Northfield as my boss but it’s never really been like that because we’ve always been best friends,” says Dave.

“We’ve formed a great working relationship too,” says Duncan.

“We have worked together for so long and now our paths will go different ways.”

Their next moves may not take them so far apart, if Dave’s instincts prove correct.“I have a feeling that we’ll end up working together somewhere again,” he says.
