A passion for meeting celebrities and collecting autographs will turn from a hobby to a full time job when Jo Cimetta moves on from iPSL.

For the past 20 years the BPH Night Shift Processor has spent her spare time collecting celebrity signatures, a lucrative pastime that has enabled her to collect some 500 autographs worth many thousands of pounds.

“I am looking forward to having more time to devote to my favourite pursuit – meeting the stars,” says Jo, who has encountered a string of celebrities at special shows and conventions where she helps out.

She volunteers at massive UK and US events, which attract thousands of fans who pay to get autographs of their favourite stars. In exchange Jo meets and works with the celebrities and is sometimes offered free autographs.

“My most valuable is probably Buzz Aldrin’s. I was lucky enough to sit at his table, ” says Jo, who met the second man to walk on the moon at a convention on her 50th birthday.

“That was a real high point. It’s great being so close to such famous people but the shows are very hard work, lasting up to 15 hours. I like coming back to iPSL for a rest,” she smiles.

Jo has rubbed shoulders with a string of famous people including Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet, Joanna Lumley, Norman Wisdom and Carrie Fisher. Now all their autographs are carefully stored away in a safe place. “They are my pension fund,” she says.

“I’m looking forward to concentrating on this full time to build up even more.”
