  ONLY a year ago Martin Standen hadn’t ridden a bike for years, but now he is gearing up for a 100 mile race challenge.

As the July date for the Prudential Ride London- Surrey 100 race nears, the Northfield Days Operations Manager aims to get extra training runs in by cycling his 20 mile commute to work whenever possible.

“My knees are shot from years of sport but low-impact cycling is a great way of getting fit. My training is going to plan and I want to raise as much as I can for a great cause,” he says.

A total of around £320 has already been pledged in aid of local charity Willen Hospice and Martin is appealing for support from across the company via his Just Giving page at
