Dogged determination

WITH best four-legged friend Lily by her side, Kerry Smith overcame an old injury to complete the UK’s first Muddy Run for people and their pooches.
The plucky pair both jogged and walked their way around five kilometres of wet obstacles, even though the Northfield Team Manager was still recovering from a serious ligament injury to her leg. “I really didn’t think I would make it to the end so there was a great sense of satisfaction when I did,” says Kerry, who raised £120 for Battersea Dog and Cats Home and £307 for Willen Hospice. “I only intended to walk but it was so cold we jogged some of the way to warm up. “We both looked pretty disgusting by the end as we were covered in mud, but Lily loved it. I will definitely sign up to take part again next year.”
