Baking Ben’s dough is rising

Keen baker Ben Miller’s charity fund-raising total just keeps on rising. Generous Chelmsford colleagues have helped swell the grand total raised for little-known charity Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis to around £5,000.

Ben’s popular summer Quiz Night raised £870, while a fund-raising day of activities in September, together with a Halloween cake sale have all contributed to the massive total. “At the beginning, when Chelmsford chose this as the charity of the year, I had no idea how much we’d raise but I never imagined it would be anything like this much,” says the Deputy Flow Leader.

Ben adopted the charity when it supported his family through difficult times after his mum died of the rare disease. Discovering a passion for baking has also helped Ben, who stocks all the cake sales. “Fund-raising has been my therapy so as soon as I finish one event, I start work on the next. I just can’t stop, but it’s for such a good cause. “I’m so grateful to colleagues for their generous support and to all the companies who donated prizes for the raffle on Quiz Night.”
